Oviraptor was belived to be a egg-thief. It lived in the Cretaceous period, about 125-100mya. Its powerful beak was strong enough to crack open an egg, but it could have broken something a lot bigger and tougher. It's name means "egg thief". Ironicly Oviraptor was given its name because the first fossil of the dinosaur ever discovered was found huddling over a nest filled with dinosaur eggs. The paleontologists assumed that the Oviraptor was stealing eggs when it died. Even though Oviraptors did eat eggs, the original fossil was later proved to be huddling over its own nest, likely trying to protect its babies from a sandstorm.
