Ouranosaurus, which means "brave lizard", lived during the beginning of the Cretaceous period. It was discovered in Africa and Asia and was named in 1976. The one who named this creature was the french paleontologist Philippe Taquet. Like the carnivorous Spinosaurus, it had a sail on it's back, but surprisingly, Ouranosaurus was a herbivore. This iguanodont measured about 8 meters and may have weighed 5 tons.
Length: 27 feet
Weight: 5 tons
It belongs to the super-family Hadrosauroidea, the group of "duck-billed dinosaurs". As it was a herbivore in the early and middle Cretaceous Africa, it may have been hunted by many carnivores like spinosaurus. If we take a look at it's body, it may not have been much for a fight. It probably ran when carnivores attacked.
It appears in the game Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis . It is placed under the category "Large Herbivore" and has the star rating of 2.
