Intro
Minmi had long held the grand title of being the dinosaur with the shortest name. Now this small Ankylosaur has been replaced by the carnivore Mei, but is still more well known. This little armored plant eater lived during the early Cretaceous Period, and is named after Minmi Crossing, Australia, where it was discovered. It was one of the earliest armored dinosaurs, much more primitive than later relatives like Ankylosaurus and Euoplocephalus. This dinosaur was short, stout and
covered in bony armor plates. Minmi chewed its food thoroughly before swallowing, instead of employing gastroliths like other herbivorous dinosaurs.
Fact File
Length: 2 meters
Height: 1 meter
Weight: 40-60 kilograms
Diet: Herbivorous
Prey
Minmi fed on low lying plants like ferns and bushes. While later Ankylosaurs had both size and armor to protect them, making them impregnable to attack, Minmi likely served as food on occasion for local predators.
