Giganotosaurus (meaning "giant lizard") is a poorly known species, unlike the "King of the Dinosaurs", T-Rex. However, despite Giganotosaurus name suggests it was larger, it was not stronger and more powerful than Tyrannosaurus.It lived 90mya in what is now South America,in the cretaceous period. Giganotosaurus is the largest carnivorous dinosaur discovered to date (although not the largest carnivorous animal ever, that would be Liopleurodon and a shark called Megalodon).

Weight = 7-10 tonnes

Prey

Gigantosaurus preyed on other dinosaurs, and whenever it could, it would attack one of the largest herbivores ever to have walked the earth. Argentinosaurus. Gigantosaurus would charge out and bite Argentinosaurus, and the rotting meat on its teeth would become lodged in the wound. The Argentinosaurus then died of infection. All Gigantosaurus had to do was follow its prey until it died. However, others say that it savaged the herbivore in packs, biting and kicking at its legs until it collapsed, at which point they would go for the throat.Giganotosaurus smaller jurassic cousin, Allosaurus,probably used the same hunting technique.
