Huayangosaurus was a primitive stegosaur of China. One of the most smallest and earliest stegosaurs, its plates were spikelike, but its tail had spikes, much like its bigger relative. This animal got its name because in was discovered in a place called Sichuan, which is also known as Huayang, thus giving it the name Huayangosaurus. It lived in the Middle Jurassic. Its main enemy was Gasosaurus. So far, the only other stegosaur from this period is the more Stegosaurus-like Lexovisaurus.
