Intro

Daspletosaurus is the direct ancestor of the mighty Tyrannosaurus Rex. It lived in the same habitat (except 10 million years earlier), eat the ancestors of T-rex's favourite prey, and was basically a smaller, lighter version of T-rex.

Diet

Daspletosaurus fed on all sorts of Cretaceous dinosaurs like hadrosaurs, and ceratopsians.

Popular Culture

Daspletosaurus starred in Episode 3 of the Discovery Channel dinosaur miniseries Dinosaur Planet, "Little Das' Hunt". In that episode, a young Daspletosaurus aptly named Little Das tries to hunt two wounded Maiasauras, named Buck and Blaze. In the end of the episode, Little Das is eventually killed in the Elkhorn volcanic eruption, along with all of the other creatures, of both the Higlands, and in the Lowlands.

Daspletosaurus was also featured in an episode of the Anime television series, Dinosaur King.
